SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse College swim team opened its 2017 season with an impressive showing at the 7th Annual Converse Women's Invite, finishing fourth out of eight teams.
Junior Sarah Russell had a very impressive weekend as she took first place in every individual event she participated in. Her events included the 200 butterfly, 100 IM, 100 freestyle, and 100 butterfly.
The Valkyries 200 medley relay team, consisting of Lisa Studstill, Anna Pettus, Hannah Asselin, and Russell, turned in a stellar time of 1:55.19, good enough for a third place finish. Lisa-Marie Geisler and Cassidy Rindge brought home third and fourth place finishes, respectively in the 200 breaststroke event.
