SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Athletic Director Joy Couch and the Converse College Athletics Department have announced Kristina Nork as the head coach for the Valkyries swim team.
Coach Nork said, "I am very excited for all that this season has to bring, and looking forward to continuing the growth and success of Converse College Swimming… Go Vals!"
Nork is entering this role during her second season at Converse College. Nork brings over 12 years of aquatics experience as both an athlete, and coach. Her coaching career includes time with Performance Aquatics, an elite USA swimming club in south Florida, where she was trained, mentored, and inspired by Kathleen Prindle. Throughout her time at PAQ, Nork worked closely with athletes of all levels ranging from the age group team, to senior and national teams. Here, she also created and administered swimmer specific strength programs.
Previously, Nork served as the Assistant Strength & Conditioning coach at Converse for five teams; including being the primary strength coach for the swim team. Nork also served as the assistant swim coach. Here she helped lead the team to a sixth place finish at the Bluegrass Mountain Conference Championship meet, their highest placement since 2012, as well as new school records and multiple program "Top 10" list performances.
Her background also includes a significant amount of strength and conditioning experience. As a sports performance coach with Spartanburg Regional Hospital System, she has coached athletes of all ages from elementary to elite collegiate/professionals. Kristina is currently certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).
During her collegiate career, Nork was a member of the NCAA Division I Gardner-Webb University swim team where she was a four-time All-Academic Honors member.
