SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse College Athletic Department has announced the promotion of Kaitlyn Kerrigan as the head soccer coach as announced on Thursday, March 8. Kerrigan has been with the Valkyries program since July of 2015, where she started as the graduate assistant. She then moved into the assistant coach role as well as the head reserve coach in the summer of 2017.
"First and foremost, I would like to thank Joy Couch for this incredible opportunity to be the head soccer coach at Converse College," Kerrigan stated. "I am extremely excited to get started and so thankful to continue to be a part of the Converse Athletic Department."
Kerrigan came to Converse after a stellar career at Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, N.C.. During her time at LMC, she was a Conference Carolinas First Team selection during the 2012 and 2013 campaigns. She received North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) All-State Third Team honors, NSCAA All-Region Third Team honors and the Daktronics NCAA Division II All-Southeast Region Second Team nod.

"Kaitlyn has a strong desire to grow as a coach and her excellence on the field as well as her energy, love, and commitment to the Converse program make her a great fit to help continue to move Valkyrie soccer forward."
The Fishers, Indiana native, was a member of the 2011 Bobcat squad that won the Conference Carolinas Regular Season and Tournament Championships on their way to the program's first ever NCAA Tournament berth.
Kerrigan graduated from Lees-McRae College in 2014 with a Bachelor's Degree in Sports and Exercise Science and a minor in Psychology. She will obtain her Master's Degree at Converse in Early Childhood Education this May.
