SPARTANBURG, S.C. â€" Head coach Rick Parlow and the Converse soccer team have announced a competitive 18-game slate. The Valkyries, who were picked fourth in the preseason poll, will look to improve from a 9-9-1mark last year.
The Valkyries get the season started with a road contest at Francis Marion on August 31 before traveling to Wilson, N.C. to take on the Bulldogs of Barton on September 13. Converse will then play host to Emmanuel (Ga.) on 9/16 prior to hitting the road for consecutive games against Belmont Abbey (9/19) and Limestone (9/23).
The next three contests will be within the friendly confines of Hayden Abney Fulp Field as CC welcomes associate member Chowan (9/27), Mount Olive (9/30), and UNC Pembroke (10/2). Back-to-back road games versus Erskine (10/5) and Southern Wesleyan (10/7) leads into a season-high four-game home stand, beginning with Georgia College (10/11).
Lees-McRae will visit Spartanburg on October 14 before North Georgia (10/17) and King (Tenn). (10/21) come to town and try its luck against the Purple and Gold.
Converse will wrap up the regular season with road matchups against Catawba (10/24) and North Greenville (10/28).
