SPARTANBURG, S.C.- The Converse Lacrosse team provided enough defense to keep the Valkyries in the contest but would come up short as the visiting Coker Cobras took the victory 15-7.

The defense turnoved over Coker 22 times and picked up 25 ground balls.
Myka Jones took the loss in cage facing 23 shots and recording eight saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Coker jumped out to an early 1-0 lead just 38 seconds into the contest. Converse responded with a Laura Starkes unassisted goal.
Brittni Jones scored the final goal of the half for the Valkyries on a free position goal.
Coker extended their lead heading into the break as the Cobras led 7-3.
Laura Starkes found the back of the net early in the second half to record her hat-trick.
Coker posted four goals to push out to an 11-4 advantage just six minutes into the half.
Three straight goals by the Cobras provided enough cushion to keep the Valkyries at-bay, 14-6.
Aubrie Lauderdale scored the final goal for Converse with 31.9 seconds to go.
Converse will host Lees-McRae on Saturday, April 22 with playoff implications on the line. Opening draw is at 1pm. Converse will honor: Laura Starkes, Jessie Walters, Kasey Halodik, and Elizabeth Gabriele before the contest.
