SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Head coach Patti McGowan and the Converse golf team have announced three signees, all hailing from the Carolinas, for the upcoming 2018-19 season. Emma Reid, Lauren Fix, and Madelyn Richards will all don the Purple and Gold for the Valkyries.
Reid, from Flat Rock, N.C., produced an outstanding junior career, including several top finishes on the PKBJT, a win at the Tom Fazio Junior Masters in 2015, runner-up at Summer Junior Classic 2016, and a runner-up finish at Tomorrow Fazio Junior Masters in 2016. Emma played golf for Hendersonville High School and was the conference player-of-the-year in 2016 and 2017. Also, Reid went undefeated in her regular season high school tournament schedule up until regionals.
Fix, form Summerville, S.C., played varsity golf for six years at Fort Dorchester High School. During her time with the Silver Foxes she was named All-Region as a junior and senior. Fix took first-place overall against eight schools in 2017 regionals after firing a two-under, 34. Named high school team captain, she also earned the Junior Scholar Award for Converse College. Lauren was a volunteer counselor at the LPGA camps for three-plus years and made to the state level of the Drive, Chip, and Putt twice. Fix tallied a hole-in-one during her freshman campaign at FDHS and was selected as a player in the North-South All-Star Championship.
Richards is from Blythewood, S.C. and has played on the varsity golf team at BHS since 7th grade. Madelyn maintained a top-5 position in the Lady Bengal squad form the 9th-12th grades, lettering five times for her outstanding contributions to the Lady Bengals.
After a competitive fall season, the Valkyries will return to the links in the spring of 2018.
