Golf Sits In Fifth After Opening Round Of Championships

SNOW HILL, N.C. - After the opening round of the 2017 Conference Carolinas Golf Championships, the Converse Golf team sits in fifth after an opening round 315.

INSIDE THE SCORECARDS

Marley Felthousen, Conference Carolinas Player of the Year, finished the opening round with a 76 (+4).  Felthousen started on the back-nine with a par to start her round before getting tripped up on 11 and 13.  The senior settled in to rattle off eight straight pars.  She birdied the par four fourth.

Felthousen is tied for seventh just five stokes off the leader, Kaitlyn Gribbon of Belmont Abbey (-1).

Tyler Dawson picked up two birdies on 12 and 13 before making the turn at five over.  Dawson finished with a 81 (+9).

Ansley Vaughan carded an opening round of 78 (+6).  Vaughan posted three birdies and eight pars in the round.  Vaughan is tied for 13th.

Megan Dresser finished off her opening round with an 80 (+8).  Dresser finished strong with a one-over front nine.  Dresser produced nine pars and a birdie in her round.

Vienna Winalski shot 84 (+12) finishing the round with six pars and a birdie.
