SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Converse Golf team is projected to finish fourth according to the Conference Carolinas Preseason Coaches poll for the 2017 season.
The Valkyries have finished third the past three seasons at the Conference Carolinas Championship event. The Valkyries picked up 76 total points in the poll, two points behind Mount Olive for third place.
The defending champion, Limestone, is slated to repeat as champion with King finishing second. King finished behind Converse at the Conference Carolinas Championships last season. Conference Carolinas newcomer Chowan is projected to finish 11th in their first season in the league.
The Valkyries return a strong core of golfers including: seniors Marley Felthousen and Ansley Vaughan. Felthousen was named Conference Carolinas Bi-Monthly golfer of the month twice during the fall season. Felthousen, Vaughan, and Tyler Dawson were All-Tournament last season.
Converse opens the season on February 4 as the Valkyries travel to participate in the Barton Invitiational.
