Felthousen Has Career Round, Valkyries Finish Strong

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - As the only Division II program competing at the Wofford Terrier Intercollegiate at the Country Club of Spartanburg, the Converse Golf team held their own as they finished the tournament with a score of 321 for a tournament total of 647.

Despite playing in an all Division I tournament, Converse finished six strokes in front of UNC Asheville.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • After posting an 80 in the first round of the tournament, Marley Felthousen comes back and shoots a career-low 71 (-1) on the final day to move into a tie for sixth.  Felthousen's 71 is the third best score and fifth best 36-hole finish in program history. Felthousen had the putter going carding five birdies on the back nine and 10 pars in the round.  The senior was just five strokes off the leader.
  • Ansley Vaughan cut five strokes off her first round score to post an 81. Vaughan found her groove on the back nine carding a birdie on the par-four 13th and finished the nine just one-over.
  • Viena Winalski was able to shave three strokes off her opening round score with a final round 83.
  • Grace Magera and Megan Dresser rounded out the scoring with 86 and 87 respectively.

The Valkyries travel to North Georgia to compete in the LeeAnn Noble Memorial Tournament on Monday and Tuesday, October 17-18.
