Valkyries Golf In Fifth After Round One At Anderson

ANDERSON, S.C.- The Converse golf team opened their fall season at the Anderson Univ. Invitational at Cobb's Glen CC on Monday.  The Valkyries are sitting in fifth place after round one, shooting 333 as a team.

Senior Marley Felthousen led the way for the Valkyries shooting a 79 (+7) with the round consisting of 10 pars.  Felthousen sits tied for ninth.

Ansley Vaughan shot a opening round 82 sitting tied for 15th.

Vienna Winalski and Miranda Juarez rounded out the scoring for Converse shooting 86s. Winalski carded 10 pars on the round while Juarez finished with three birdies.

Marisa Daquil Kawabe finished the round with a score of 89. The freshman recorded her first birdie in the round.

Conference Carolinas foes Erskine sits in fourth, Emmanuel seventh and, North Greenville in ninth.  Queens leads Lincoln Memorial by two strokes heading into the final round.

The second and final round of the Anderson Invitational concludes on Tuesday, September 13.
