Strong Round Keeps Valkyries In Second

BROWNS SUMMIT, N.C.- The Converse golf team fired off the best round in program history in Conference Carolinas Championship action with a round of 310.  

Converse remains in second after round two trailing the leader Limestone by 11 strokes.  The Valkyries lead third-place Pfeiffer by five strokes and fourth-place Mount Olive by 12 strokes.

Marley Felthousen led the Valkyries in the second round with a four-over 76.  Felthousen started off the round with a bogey but followed it up with five pars and a birdie before a bogey to make the turn at +1.  Felthousen sits tied for fifth in the tournament.

Tyler Dawson posted a five-over 77 seeing an eagle fall in the par-5 third.  Dawson made the turn at even par before handing back five strokes on the back nine.  Dawson sits tied for 11th.

Alex Bruce carded a six-over 78 to sit tied for seventh.  Bruce added two birdies to her round on holes three and four before making the turn at one-over.

Ansley Vaughan rounded out the scoring for the Valkyries with a seven-over 79.  Vaughan posted three birdies in her round.

Allie McCain shot 82 in the second round with two birdies on the back-nine.

Converse will finish up the Conference Carolinas Golf Championships with the third and final round on Tuesday, April 19.
