Basketball Adds To Already Stout Recruiting Class

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Head coach Dean Walsh of the Converse Basketball team has announced late signees to what is already a stout recruiting class. Of the four players who will don the Purple and Gold next season, three are from the Palmetto State, while Celeste Rucker hails from Ohio.



Isabel Elder- Summerville, SC

Selected to the South Carolina North/ South All Star Game. Selected to the All Lowcountry Basketball Team.


Walsh on Isabel-"Izzy's a great shooter who will stretch defenses out for us. She has a good basketball IQ with good passing skills. She fits perfectly in our system and

style of play as a stretch 4."



Celeste Rucker- Cedarville, OH

Walsh on Celeste-" "Celeste is a very versatile forward who has the athletic ability to play the 2 through 4 positions. Very good mid-range game with the ability to shoot the three as well as an excellent passer.

Walsh on Ellen-" "Ellen is a sharpshooter! Has great range and will stretch defenses with her ability to shoot the ball. She led the state with number of three's made her junior season and finished her career with 278 made three's. She is a gym rat and loves to compete. We're excited to see her develop as a player in our program."

 Amari Johnson- N. Charleston, SC

Walsh on Amari-  "Amari is a very athletic defensive minded guard with quick hands. She loves to and wants to defend the opponent's best player. She is an attacking style guard and does a good job of getting to the rim."
