SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Converse head basketball coach Dean Walsh has been named a Lead Mentor and Facilitator of the WBCA National Coach-to-Coach Mentoring Program. Walsh is one of five representatives from around the Northeast, South and Midwest regions.
"It's an honor to be chosen and selected by the WBCA for this program", Walsh said. "There are so many great quality coaches to learn from out there and I'm excited to be able to learn from them as well as be able to share my experiences and expertise with them. Having coached at the High School and NCAA Division I, II, and III levels, as well as being an assistant coach for several years affords me the ability to relate to just about every coach and the issues they have encountered."
The WBCA Coach to Coach Mentoring Program is a small-group mentoring program designed to bring together member coaches and support staff during the basketball season to share ideas, confront challenges and learn from one another.
This program creates a structured platform – weekly to monthly conference calls – for organic, open conversation. Bringing together coaches and staff with a variety of expertise and experience levels assures that everyone at the table has something to teach and something to learn.
Walsh added, "Our small group is a tremendous group of young coaches that i have thoroughly enjoyed working with already."OF THE
The mentorship runs from August until April, culminating in a face-to-face meeting during the WBCA Convention.
