Crusaders Stun Valkyries On Senior Night

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Converse Basketball team was unable to grab the win against North Greenville in Conference Carolinas action on Friday evening for the Valkyries' senior night.

Converse honored Hannah Anderson, Erin Horne and Kassidy Moorhouse before the contest.

Senior Hannah Anderson posted a solid final contest scoring a career-high 17 points and hauling in nine rebounds.  Anderson shot 60% from the floor.  Senior Kassidy Moorhouse finished her career with six points and four boards.  Erin Horne swiped three more steals in her final contest to finish with 151 total steals.

Brianna James led the Valkyries with 18 points.  Keocia Walker notched a career-high 10 assists.


1st Quarter

Converse jumped out to an early 5-0 lead.  Hannah Anderson put the Valkyries on the board converting the old-fashioned three-point play.  Brianna James knocked down a jumper after an Erin Horne steal for the 5-0 lead.

NGU would cut the deficit to 5-4 before Kassidy Moorhouse knocked down two from the charity stripe.

The Crusaders would take the lead at 10-8 before Hannah Anderson knotted things at 10-all.

NGU took a 19-14 lead into the second quarter.

2nd Quarter

NGU extended their lead to double-figures with a 7-0 run to start the quarter.  Tatum Boggs knocked down a trey to end the run, cutting the deficit to 26-17.

Converse and NGU would trade baskets for the rest of the quarter until Erin Horne connected on two free throws and Brianna James went 1-2 from the line.

The Valkyries trailed 40-32 heading into the locker room.

3rd Quarter

Brianna James started the scoring in the second half for the Valkyries with a jumper.  Hannah Anderson would complete another old-fashioned three-point play to keep the deficit at eight, 44-36.

Keocia Walker connected on a layup with 5:58 to continue the rally, cutting the deficit to six, 50-44.

NGU went on a 9-1 run to push their lead back to double-figures, 61-47.  Three straight free throws by Dominique Hill and a Brianna James triple to end the quarter cut the deficit to 63-53 heading into the final quarter.

4th Quarter

Brianna James' three-point play and baskets by Keocia Walker and Kassidy Moorhouse, quickly cut the deficit to five, 67-62.

NGU countered with an 8-1 run to push their lead back to double-figures, 75-63.

Converse would cut the deficit to single-digits with 44 seconds after Paige Johnson made a layup but free throws down the stretch by NGU sealed the win.


Converse ends the season with a 5-21 record and 4-18 record in Conference Carolinas play.
