Field Hockey Falls to Limestone

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Converse College (0-9) field hockey team dropped a 4-0 decision to nationally ninth-ranked Limestone College (10-0) on Wednesday evening at Spartan High.

The Saints wasted no time jumping ahead on the scoreboard with a goal in just the sixth minute of action. That lead grew to 3-0 as two more goals in less than two minutes of playing time found the back of the cage.

Converse threatened at the end of the half with a late offensive burst, but could not push anything past the LC keeper, heading into the locker room down by the three goals.

A goal at the 27:51 mark of the second half pushed the Limestone lead to 4-0. The Converse defense put the clamp down the rest of the way, not allowing another goal, but could not muster any offense, dropping the contest by the final of 4-0.

Limestone outshot the Vals by a final of 17-2, including 9-1 on penalty corners. Marina Montes-Nino and Flore Samsi registered the only two shots for Converse.

The Valkyries will be back in action on Saturday, October 7 as they play host to Bellarmine. That contest is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
