Converse Field Hockey Set For Inaugural Season

SPARTANBURG, S.C.- Head coach Kelsey Lovelace and the Converse College Field Hockey team have announced the schedule for its inaugural campaign. The 17-game slate features six home games and 11 road contests. Home games will be played at neighboring Spartanburg High School.

The Valkyries will play their first contest ever on Thursday, August 31, traveling to Limestone. On Sunday, September 3 the Purple and Gold will entertain the home crowd for the initial time with a tough contest against Seton Hill before playing host to Belmont Abbey on September 4.

The back-to-back home contests leads into a season-long seven-game road swing. First stop of the trip will be against the Crusaders of BAC on 9-9. Converse will then play three games in a four-day span, trying its luck against Newberry (9-13), Transylvania (9-15), and Bellarmine (9-17). A one-week hiatus in the action brings the Valkyries back to the field on 9-24 to square off against Sewanee and then Seton Hill on 9-29. Mercyhurst (10-1) will be the last stop on the trail.

Converse returns to the friendly confines of Sparkle City for three consecutive games, beginning with Limestone on October 4, Molloy on October 8, and finishing with Newberry on October 12. The following three contests will be back on the road as the Valkyries head to Queens (N.C.) on 10-21, St. Thomas Aquinas (10-27), and Molloy October 29.

The Valkyries will wrap the season up with a home contest against Queens (N.C.) on November 2.
