SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Converse Equestrian team is looking to make a final push in the regional standings as the Valkyries continue to hold on to the second slot in the regional behind College of Charleston.
Converse sits in second place with 186 points, while College of Charleston totals 250. The Valkyries are fighting off South Carolina and Georgia Southern for the second spot with USC posting 183 points and Ga. Southern with 180 points.
Freshman, Madison Orr is looking to finish on top for the Open Hunter Seat Rider. Orr is currently in fourth place with a total of 43 points with the leader from Coastal Carolina with 49 points.
At the current standings, the Valkyries are looking at a Reserve Championship of the region and seven riders qualified for regional competition.
Addie Ledbetter has qualified in two events: novice flat and novice fences. Caroline Gilliam, Josephine Grimmer and Heather McCrary will attend regionals in advanced walk, trot, canter. Julia Williams and Jennifer Matusik will compete at regionals in novice fences and walk, trot respectively.
Converse has the opportunity to send five more riders: Katie Dixon, Carson Rehn, Corinne Flanary, Lydia Davidson, and Madeline Wagner to regionals as well. These individuals are close to meeting the required 36 point threshold to compete.
Converse wraps up the regular season on March 4th against College of Charleston and will head to Regionals on March 5th.
