SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Freshman Breana Clarke has been tabbed as the NCATA Freshman of the Week as announced by the league office on Wednesday, February 14. Clarke becomes the first athlete from an inaugural program to be honored with a weekly award thus far during the young season.
Clarke helped the Valkyries to their first win in program history, 261.805-248.720 over King University on Sunday, leading Converse to 10 wins in the 12 heats she participated in. The freshman joined a compulsory pyramid and toss heat that scored a respective 9.9 and 9.8 before scoring a 9.75 in the seven-element acro. After a 9.5 in the open toss, Clarke put a punctuation mark on the Valkyrie effort with a 9.675 in the open pass.
The Valkyries will return to the mat on Friday, February 16, traveling to take on Georgetown College. The meet is scheduled to get underway at 7 p.m.
